Why I Started Leaf and Vine Card Design 🌿

My name is Ashley and I am the crafty teacher behind Leaf and Vine Card Design.

My cardmaking roots stretch all the way back to elementary school, where my mom and I would carefully handcraft every Valentine for my classmates. I’d cut, glue, plant stickers, color, and (wisely) steer clear of glitter! I also loved making cards for my parents for every birthday, Mother’s Day, and Father’s Day—my mom still proudly displays those cards in the dining room, every one a tiny time capsule of creativity and love.
As I grew up, I wanted to keep spreading joy, one card at a time. For years, I delighted in making holiday cards for the adults at my school—teachers, staff, and all the wonderful people who helped our hallways bloom with warmth. What started as a simple act of appreciation soon sent out roots and blossomed into a cherished tradition. Think 50+ cards made by yours truly! I start in July to have them all ready to deliver to school by December 1st.
Each season, I’d deliver handmade cards—sometimes with planty puns or cheerful illustrations—to desks and mailboxes. The smiles, hugs, and grateful notes I received always reminded me that a small, heartfelt gesture can truly brighten someone’s day.

Coworkers would tell me, “You should open an Etsy shop!” For the longest time, I brushed off the idea, but their encouragement planted a seed in my heart. That seed slowly sprouted. My craft table transformed into a creative greenhouse, overflowing with cardstock, stamps, and bursts of inspiration (along with a healthy dose of creative mess!). Before long, what began in a teacher workroom blossomed into Leaf and Vine Card Design.
Now, I get to share my love of handmade cards with you. Each design is crafted to help you celebrate, show gratitude, and nurture your own connections. Whether you’re sending a little sunshine to a friend or letting someone know they’re the pick of the bunch, I hope my cards help you grow joy and kindness wherever you plant them.
